CoolSculpting FAQ’s

Is CoolSculpting right for me?

CoolSculpting® is ideal for those who are overweight, with stubborn excess fat in the waist, hip, arms, thighs and back area. Patients require a 45-minute consultation to determine if CoolSculpting is right for them. Treatment costs are per application, and vary depending on the number of areas needing treatment and how many sessions are required.

Where can the CoolSculpting device be used on my body?

The CoolSculpting machine has been designed to target specific areas where stubborn fat accumulates and is hard to eliminate with exercise and proper diet. The double chin is a good example as there is little to no exercises you can do to target that area.

Coolsculpting is also used for the abdomen, inner thighs, outer thighs, muffin tops, back fat and more. If there is a particular area you’re unsure as to whether or not cryolipolysis can help, talk to a PSC expert.

Where does the fat go?

This procedure isn’t magic. Fat is more susceptible to the cold than muscle, skin and nerves, meaning it can be crystallised and killed without harming the rest of the body. The CoolSculpting technology targets these fatty areas with controlled cooling bursts that freeze fat.

In the weeks to come after the treatment, the fat is naturally removed from your body. Via the normal waste process, this treated fat is extracted from the body and is gone for good.

Is the fat gone forever?

Yes! After treatment, the fat is removed from the body for good. The fat freezing process kills the cells for good, meaning they won’t return to the body.

This will cause your muscles in the surrounding area to look more defined after persistent exercise.

Is the CoolSculpting procedure safe?

This method is completely safe when performed by a Prescription Skin Care expert. It’s a non-invasive procedure, meaning that there is no incision made to remove the fat. Millions of satisfied CoolSculpting treatments have been completed.

Are there any side effects?

There are common side effects involved with the treatment, although all of these should subside over the days following. During the procedure you may feel pulling, strong cold sensations, stinging, aching, pinching or cramps which are all normal but usually become subdued as the target area becomes numb.

Following the completion of the CoolSculpting treatment, it’s normal for patients to have side effects including bruising, swelling, redness, blanching, tingling, stinging and tenderness of the skin. Again, these side effects are temporary and should disappear in the days/week that follows.

There is the possibility for rare side effects to occur, especially for people with undisclosed conditions. Speak to your doctor and a Prescription Skin Care expert to find out if the treatment is right for you.

How long does the treatment take?

Treatment usually lasts for up to an hour. This time will vary depending on the target areas and if multiple areas of fat are frozen.

Follow-up treatment can also be organised to freeze more fat.

How long until I can go back to work?

Straight away if you like. There is no downtime necessary after the CoolSculpting treatment. You can go straight back to work, return to your routine and even jump right back into exercise whenever you feel ready.

Because it’s a non-invasive fat reduction treatment there are no incisions that would put you on the sidelines.
