Excessive Sweating

Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis)Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) can be an embarrassing condition that can have a negative impact on your confidence. This can be made worse for professionals who need to look their best at work. Visible signs of excessive sweating such as underarm stains, dripping palms or wet clothing make those affected look less confident and/or nervous. This is the last thing you want during an important presentation or sales pitch.

Localised injections of Botox can prevent excessive sweating of the armpits, hands and soles of the feet.

Excessive sweating is caused by a hyperfunction of the sweat (eccrine) glands, responsible of the body's temperature control, resulting in abnormally increased perspiration.

Botox is injected into the eccrine glands to block the release of a chemical, acetylcholine, it is a neurotransmitter that tells the body to produce sweat. This treatment effectively stops sweat production in the affected area for up to one year.
