Botox FAQ

Things to consider prior to Botox® treatment:

Do I need to receive Botox® injections from a qualified Doctor?

Technically, no. But any treatment should be administered by a Doctor trained in cosmetic Botox®. If not recipients run a higher risk of complications occurring.

How long does Botox® treatment take?

Botox® treatments take an average of 30 minutes to administer. Within two to five days your skin will start to appear younger and smoother.

Are there age restrictions for Botox®?

There is no age requirement for Botox® as it can be used as a treatment option for those under the age of 18 for Hyperhidrosis and other conditions in which Botox® proves to be a viable option. Although, for cosmetic surgery, children under the age of 18 require consent from an adult. The Doctors at Prescription Skin Care implement discretion when determining whether or not someone is a viable candidate for surgery, particularly if they are under 18.

Can I get Botox® if I’m pregnant?

No, there have been no studies done on the effect of Botox® on pregnancy and therefore Prescription Skin Care and all other practices will not perform the procedure on a woman who’s pregnant.

Are there any side effects?

All Botox® procedures involve some sort of risk. There is the possibility of side effects occurring. These may include:

  • Minimal swelling
  • Redness and possible bruising
  • It’s possible for the Botox® to spread to unwanted areas causing undesirable results such as a droopy eyelid. This can be a result of rubbing the treated area following the procedure.
Do I need to continue Botox® after my first treatment?

Injections usually last between 3-4 months. In order to maintain the results of your initial injection you’ll need to receive further injections some time after this period.
